- Clamp the nut in a vise with the pin hole up.

 - Insert the tube into the nut, aligning the mating fitting so the wire slides into the groves.

- Tap the pin into the nut with a hammer and pin punch (the pin will bend and secure the nut to the fitting) until the pin is below the nut surface. If the original pin is reinserted, it may have to be rotated with pliers to facilitate reinstallation.

- After pin insertion, check to ensure the nut rotates freely on the elbow.
